What does it take to transform your inner child into the carefree one we see above?
The same thing that actual children need. Good parenting.
Primarily it would be attunement, and nurturing them in a healthy way.
As an adult, you become the parent to your inner child. So you need to attune or more accurately become aware of what you (or you in your past) are feeling and then ask yourself (your present and younger self) what you need.
The process of becoming aware of your inner world never ends because growth never ends. You grow (in part) by continuing to expand that awareness every day.
You nurture yourself by doing what’s best for you, what you want/need. It’s taking care of yourself. That might mean taking some time off or it might mean being unapologetic in your opinions and speech.
Over time, your inner child runs free as he now has the resources to do so.
